Training Sessions: Training sessions of any length are provided at
home, a work site, or other location:
goals, and are varied constantly to keep the body
adapting and the mind fresh. The workouts are dynamic; utilizing bodyweight, free weights, and
small apparatus to allow for variety
and the development of functional strength,
endurance, and balance. There is an emphasis on teaching each client how to exercise safely and
effectively; coaching correct form and
technique.
Fitness Assessment: Prior to beginning training, each client will
participate in a fitness assessment;
which primarily consists of information sharing re:
their health history, exercise history,
and current goals. Some exercises/physical
assessment may also be performed by the client so
that an appropriate baseline re: current fitness can
be established. This process not only
helps workouts be safe and effective, it begins the
building of the client/trainer
relationship.
Partner Assisted
Stretching: All clients will be guided in working on improving
flexibility, including using warm up, cool down, and stretching to maintain and/or improve
their muscles' elasticity and range or
motion. Partner Assisted, or PNF stretching is also
available. This type of flexibility work
can be included in hour training sessions, or
provided separately, in sessions designated specifically to address flexibility issues.
Lifestyle Coaching:
This may be in the form of a supervised
"purging" of their kitchen cabinets and
refrigerator, or a guided
shopping trip, or a time to identify/discuss
time management, stress management, or
emotional eating triggers.
Training sessions will include discussion of
exercise to be performed by the client
outside of those sessions, such as cardio, etc., as
well as guidance about proper nutrition. Regular contacts will also be made via phone and/or
e-mail to share appropriate information with clients in those areas. Outside of
those contacts, clients may request additional support and guidance with designated time
for lifestyle coaching.
